Another success story

Being presented at London Boat Show in January this year, the new flybridge Sunseeker yacht has already been sold in 30 units!

At the global debut of the Sunseeker Manhattan 66 at the London Boat Show in January 2017, it became clear that this leading UK brand was on the way to another success story following on behind the Manhattan 52. By the time of the Manhattan 66 debut around 30 had already been sold from buyers just seeing the plans which has to say a lot about its design, looks and specification. The buyers are spread across Europe, Asia and the Americas. The Manhattan 66 is effectively a larger version of its 52 sister and it will be followed by a larger 76 model in this series later this year.

The 52 is Sunseeker’s fastest selling yacht to date with 80 now delivered, in build or on order. On a test of this model it was found to be an all-round performer in terms of speed, comfort and good seakeeping. It is very responsive to the helm and easily manoeuvrable both at high speed of 30 knots or more or at 3 or 4 knots for handling in the marina. The Manhattan 66’s sea performance is down to the combination of the new deep V hull and the propulsion options of either twin MAN 1000hp/1200hp engines on shaft drive or Volvo Penta IPS-1200. These provide a cruising speed of around 25 and a full speed depending on the option of up to 34 knots.

Modern interior styling of this yachts is only one of the reasons for her success

The design of the 66 aims to maximise entertainment options with exceptional panoramic hull and saloon windows providing light-drenched living spaces throughout. This is a craft that packs a lot into its available space making it an ideal boat for a cruise with a family or friends. The high-quality finish throughout reflects the time, effort and thought that has gone into this model. The model tested was second one built and it came with four cabins comprising the full beam spacious master; a forward VIP and two twin berths. Access to the master was by a separate stairway giving a feel of privacy and something special. All the cabins were well fitted out with storage and three en-suites between the four cabins.

There is scope for a compact crew cabin accessed from the beach platform or this could be an additional guest space or used for storage. The real joy of the 66 is centred on the main deck and the flybridge. The latter is a location offering space for excellent entertaining, dining or relaxing and a smart viewing platform. More of the same is available on the main deck which includes a forward area for either sunbathing or having a drink. The main salon offers further space for dining, socialising or taking life easy. The cockpit area is ideal for a relaxing drink or watching the sun set. Steering positions are available on both the main deck and the flybridge. With a sale price of about £1.5 million any buyer gains a lot of craft for their money. The use of the on-board space between accommodation and guest areas is excellently balanced. With this craft, it is likely Sunseeker will have another success story under their belt.
